High Hopes For Marijuana Decriminalization In Texas Went Up In Smoke

Pot enthusiasts had high hopes for marijuana decriminalization in Texas…

but those hopes went up in smoke as the legislature refused to even take up the bills.

In a move that most didn’t see coming, Rep. Todd Hunter, refused to allow the bills to be submitted for review and a vote.  The two bills, HB507 and HB2165 had been approved by committee to be voted on by the House.  However, Rep. Hunter had another idea.

HB507 would have reduced jail time, whereas HB2165  would have decriminalized and legalized pot.  It then would have then been regulated like tomatoes.
