Does Marijuana Make You Skinny? Shocking Answer Has Potheads Cheering

Finally, the secret to getting skinny: legalize weed.

Wait a minute, how can stoners with the constant munchies possibly get skinnier instead of fat?  Don’t take my word for it. Lindsay Abrams at The Atlantic magazine highlighted a study recently done that proves pot smokers are skinnier.

“…despite eating more while high (by some measures, over 600 extra calories per day), marijuana users’ extra intake doesn’t seem to be reflected in increased BMI. Indeed, studies have identified a reduced prevalence of obesity in the pot smoking community.”

The study took 4,600 adults, with 12 percent admitting to be current smokers, with another 42 percent admitting to smoking in the past.  They were tested for blood sugar control, insulin and glucose levels, resistance to insulin levels, cholesterol levels, and the most important…waist size.

And the results?

“Current marijuana users had significantly smaller waist circumference than participants who had never used marijuana, even after adjusting for factors like age, sex, tobacco and alcohol use, and physical activity levels. They also had higher levels of HDL (“good cholesterol“).”

Not just that, but their insulin levels and insulin resistance reduced by 16 percent and 17 percent!

So what does all this mean?

According to the study:

“…these findings suggest that marijuana somehow works to improve insulin control, regulating body weight and perhaps explaining why marijuana users have a lower incidence of diabetes.”

So if you’ve ever wondered, does marijuana make you skinny or fat, now you know!
